Relatively new Chicago producer/DJs, M.O.B. first caught our ear when they played the Wakarusa DJ Competition and unleashed this beauty of a track. In a turn from their typical trap/hip-hop cuts, they have produced a heavy dubstep/electro remix of The Beatles’ Eleanor Rigby. The violins warp and bend alongside synth and drumwork from the group, tangled amongst the repitched and retimed vocals of McCartney, and what could have been a mess is actually quite interesting and fun to listen to. In fact, it’s the best thing they’ve done thus far.
Alongside that release, they have mixed dozens of other classic songs into an hour of old meets new which they call “M.O.B.’s Lonely Hearts Club Beats.” This mix spans the gamut from R&B singer Anita Baker to Creedence Clearwater Revival, including remixes from STS9 and Bassnectar. Show it to your friends who may not otherwise like electronic music. We’d love to hear the results!
Look for more releases from M.O.B. at their Facebook and Soundcloud, and turn this mix UP. Ray John, y’all.
