Ever since the last Vegoose Festival in 2007, Las Vegas locals and out of towners alike have been asking for more festivals in Vegas. With the success of EDC in recent years it a good thing to see some new festivals coming into the Las Vegas scene. This year an all new festival is coming to Las Vegas, Life is Beautiful Festival is bringing a wide range of Music, Art, and amazing food to the Las Vegas downtown area. Among the art being presented at this years inaugural festival Cirque du Soleil will be displaying some short performances from six of its acts that can be seen at the Las Vegas strip. Chefs such as Iron Chefs Cat Cora and Michael Symon will be serving up gourmet festival fare, a serious upgrade from the corn dogs and pizza found and the average festival. With all this great art, food and culture Life is Beautiful has a lot going for it without even mentioning the killer music lineup. Here are a few of our favorite must see artists Life is beautiful this October.
Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9)
West coast music lovers are glad to see STS9 making its first appearance in Las Vegas since they last played a show at the House of Blues Las Vegas in February 2010. STS9 has been touring extensively this summer and just finished their summer tour with Umphreys Mcgee followed by two nights at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. We’re really looking forward to getting down to the funky jamtronica grooves and sounds of STS9. (Sunday 6:30-7:30pm Ambassador Stage)
Pretty Lights
Producer Derek Vincent Smith is coming to Las Vegas in full force featuring Pretty Light’s funky hip-hop electronica sounds with the addition of a live band to make what will surely be a set not to be missed at LIB. The Pretty Lights Team has been really pushing the envelope with their show’s production featuring an over the top lighting rig which along with the amazing sounds of Pretty Lights, it is sure to have festival attendees mesmerized. (Saturday 10:30-11:40pm Ambassador Stage)
Big Gigantic
Saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken make up the duo known as Big Gigantic; Big G is known for their funky jazzy livetronica sound which is usually built from the deep grooves of Dominic’s saxophone. Just like Life is Beautiful is putting a modern twist on the music festival, Big G is putting their own twist on electronic music. They are sure to make some new fans as well as impress old fans alike with their performance Sunday night. (Sunday 8:50-9:35 Huntridge Stage)
Jurassic 5
Hip hop veterans Jurassic 5 will be making an appearance this year at Life is Beautiful and hip-hop fans like myself are absolutely ecstatic for this performance. Jurassic 5 had a falling out which resulted in the group’s splitting up in 2007. The group reunited at this years Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and has been touring strong around the US since. The group’s live hip hop sound with a positive message is sure to have everyone getting down with a smile and dancing like nobody’s watching. (Sunday 4:35-5:25pm Downtown Stage)
