From the land of jazz, New Orleans, Louisiana, comes a quartet that pushes the boundaries of soulful funk and blends it with the modern day vibrations of livetronica; making for a fusion of sounds that will keep you guessing and get you grooving. Gravity A may not (yet) be a nationally renowned act, but this is a group to be on the watch for, they have supported several notable act including Lotus, Break Science, Zoogma, EOTO, and more; and are looking to break through the NOLA scene in the upcoming year.
With the release of their full length album, ‘New Beginnings’ through Kickstarter, they have established their sound and have created a foundation to build upon. This ten track compilation consists of heavy grooves, vibrant riffs, and funky bass. Starting it off is the self titled track “New Beginnings” which begins with all those joyful little arpeggiated tones that have become a staple in today’s Jamtronica genre, it progresses into a crunchy riff coupled with some sax that sets the tone.
Each track has its own feel but remains true to the NOLA funk that is deeply rooted in this band’s sound, the album contains everything from glory organ chords, to groovy guitar jams, break beat drumming, sexy sax solos, and even a Lynrd Skynrd remix! This album has it all and Gravity A is the real deal, but don’t just take our word for it, listen for yourself right here, and grab the album on their bandcamp, it’s surely worth it!
