Papa Skunk Shows His Crown
By: Aaron Gi
Papa Skunk is back with a four track, all original EP, released through Adapted Records. Laying it down in the land of Marijuana consumption and electronic production, the Colorado based producer is known for his heavy glitch lines, relaxed melodies, and up-tempo drum patches. He’s back at it again with this banger that also features three remixes from AMB, Alpha Data, and Samples.
The EP starts off with self-titled track, “The Crown” which begins with a slow organ sounding synth and a cool build followed by the trademark Papa Skunk glitch. His beats have way of bringing out the chill and the rage all at once. It is a passive aggressive production style, with the easy-going up-tempo drums and simple melodies, combined with heavy talking bass modulation.
Each track has a slow build and an easy groove and holds true to the funky glitch hop that Papa Skunk has continuously been putting out. The EP gets increasingly heavy with glitch and bass, but never feels like the machine heavy dubstep that makes your ears ring. Every song has it’s own vibe and feel, whilst still maintaining a consistent sound, his drops are never too heavy or overwhelming and they always keep the groove. The bass lines seem to be having a conversation in every track with one glitch responding to the next in perfect unison.
Papa Skunk produces four tracks that will get any party going, he has created a sound for himself and a funky style that is all continuously progressing, and adding to his own genre of Glitch-hop. Being known for his unique remixes, this is the fifth EP he has released, and doing it through Adapted Records you know there are big things coming for this young producer. Stay on the lookout for what’s next from Papa Skunk and be sure to grab this banger off beatport of his newest production, “The Crown.”
