Coming in hot for the 4th year strong is The Werk Out Music & Arts Festival. This little Ohio shindig calls Legend Valley in Thornville, OH home, the same spot that hosts All Good Music Festival. While the sizes of each respective festival may differ greatly, they’re both on the same level when it comes to good times. The Werk Out is quickly gaining a name for itself with its ability to have such quality music while remaining a small, intimate festival. You wouldn’t even have to try and you’d probably come across every attendee, just more good people to meet and rage with!
The festival is headlined by Ohio natives The Werks. These Jamtronica specialists are the proud hosts of the festival and give you three separate chances to see what they can do throughout the weekend. They are experts at making you feel like you’re at a 70s rock show then catapulting you into the millennium with crazy synths and spacey jams. If you plan on going to this festival because of all the other names on the lineup and don’t really listen to The Werks you should probably check them out. Don’t be surprised if you leave Ohio a werkaholic.
This year’s lineup is absolutely stacked with some repeat offenders from Werk Outs past and some new faces to Legend Valley that will surely get the crowd raging.
GRiZ will be bringing his electro funk for a late night set on Saturday that will wake even the most tired of spunions and get their feet moving before they know it! Expect to hear some cuts from his newest project that is still in the works and prepare yourself for a couple GRiZMaTiK sized bombs to be “dropped” in as well.
EOTO returns for the third time in three years and if they’re looking to make this a tradition I highly doubt anyone would mind. With one of the coolest visualizers around in their lotus flower setup and being the kings of live, improvised dubstep (in case you were wondering, there’s no challengers to the throne), expect Jason Hann & Michael Travis to leave use speechless, sightless and any other less’ you can think of.
Papadosio also returns to the festival and will be expected to deliver a fest stealing set because, well, that’s what they’ve been doing as of late. After another successful Rootwire and a phenomenal performance at Hyperion this past weekend, look for the boys to keep the ball rolling and have us find some clouds along the way.
Conspirator makes their Werk Out debut and these guys will undoubtedly put on a fast paced, heavy charged, electro rock jam clinic! If all that sounds like a bit much for you then what the hell are you doing at The Werk Out in the first place? Conspirator has done nothing but expand and perfect on their sound over the last few years and it’s really been something to watch them evolve. With a new drummer at the helm this is definitely a great time to be a fan of Conspirator as they continue to break new barriers and mesh the world of jam, rock and electronic seamlessly.
Minnesota brings his west coast wobble to The Werk Out, also for the first time. His production skills are top notch and his mixing may be a little better. One thing is for sure, Minnesota knows how to get a crowd moving.
Dopapod will make you feel like you’ve just stepped foot on alian space craft and by the end of the set you’ll be asking why on mars you had to get off so soon! As one of the hottest up and coming jamtronica bands around, you’d be a genuine fool not to check these guys out.
Cosby Sweater has been tearing it up all summer and The Werk Out just marks another destination for them to make a name for themselves. The electronic trio from Indianapolis will have you from grooving to raging in 4.6 seconds. Ok, so it may take a little longer than that but I think you’re picking up what I’m throwing down and you’ll definitely be getting down to what they’re throwing down. Oh, and Joel Cummins from Umphrey’s is playing with them. Now try to go to sleep tonight.
The Werk Out is set to be three days of absolute madness! We’ll be Rey Jing. Will You?
