The Aragon Ballroom is one of our favorite venues to rage in the city of Chicago. Located directly off the Lawrence Redline CTA Station, The interior is decorated like a Spanish village. Even the roof is painted as a night sky with glow in the dark stars. It is also the largest indoor music venue in Chicago with a capacity of 4,500 for concerts. Because of this there are often tickets available until the day of the show, and there is always room to go breathe in the back and by the many bars. Upon entering, patrons are lightly patted down. Pockets are sometimes checked but it is a fairly routine pat down and security does not assume guilt. Once inside Security does not really care about smoking unless you are right in front of them. We have been to many shows at the Aragon and have never had a problem smoking throughout the whole show. There are not security guards sneaking around the crowd looking for pot smokers. This creates a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere that the Aragon is famous for. The bathrooms are located downstairs near the coat check. They are very large but seemingly not big enough during set breaks and after the show. They are not cleaned during shows so they can get pretty dirty during. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Some of the most professional and genuinely nice staff of any entertainment venue in Chicago. Bud Light is available at most bars for $6 as well as one nicer bars in the back corner that carries mix drinks and Dos Equis for between $7-$10 . They also have pizza available during most events.
