Ghostly International and Adult Swim Pair for Second Collection
By Sonny Forrest
Two multi-media organizations whose respective brands embody progress in different ways, Ghostly International, through progressive ambient sounds and visual art, and Adult Swim, through games and entertainment oddly endearing in their high-concept eccentricity, collaborated on a second collection of sounds since 2008.
It makes sense that Ghostly and Adult Swim would revisit this partnership after nearly a decade. The release illustrates the evolution of both entities in parallel with one another, which is a veritable raw-hide treat for fans foaming for another taste of the two brands’ overlapping ethos, something that doesn’t happen that often.
The mix itself is introduced on Ghostly’s site as “music you could ignore as easily as you could give it your full attention, like a sort of sonic wallpaper.” And it’s a versatile collection, suitable for headphones at work, the soundtrack to an esoteric cocktail party (e.g. a lemon press party) at your place, or like some music you might hear at that one basement club you think you remember going to once like a year ago, but you can’t remember what it was called, where it was, or who you went with.
