Com Truise sits atop the throne of 80s-style synthesizers. His tracks beat with a hypo-rhythmic pulse illuminated by a fuzzy, metallic synth that sounds like a bite extrapolated from the Beverly Hills Cop theme song. It’s that same air of eerie nostalgia that feels like you’re bouncing through a decade many of us never got the chance to meet. Good thing he’s included the best parts of 80s music (heavily-modulated synths and drum machines).* Com Truise, an appropriate spoonerism of Tom Cruise, is yet another piece of the electro act parody name list (ie. Ill Gates, Cosby Sweater, etc.) If you can name an actor that embodies the collective American ethos of the 1980s better than Tom Cruise, you get a cookie.** I’ve included a couple tracks from his 2011 album Galactic Melt as well as his Cyanide Sisters EP (2010).*** Since you nice people clicked on this post, here’s some tracks from Soundcloud that I can’t post to the homepage.
* With all this talk about the 80s I feel obligated to mention “the flux capacitator, Marty” but that reference is out of left field. If you get it, you get it. If not, look it up.
