NOV 8 – 10 2013
Derek Vincent Smith aka Pretty Lights will be bringing his Analog Future tour to Chicago for 3 nights this upcoming weekend with 2 nights at the famed Aragon Ballroom and the finale at the new Concord Music Hall. As of now, only Saturday is sold out but Friday is getting close and Sunday at the Concord will go on sale Friday morning. Being only a 900 person capacity venue, those tickets will be gone faster than you can say “Hot Like Sauce”. For the first time ever, Derek will be touring with a full band to help truly bring to life the uncanny sounds of Pretty Lights. Older fans will remember that Derek used to tour with a live drummer from 2007 to 2011. First was Corey Eberhard who handled the duties till 2010, then Adam Deitch (Lettuce/Break Science) took over. During the recording process for his most recent album, ‘A Color Map of the Sun’, Derek took his sampling approach to a new level by recording all of the sounds he would later sample live with a countless number of musicians. He deemed it only appropriate that in order to truly capture the essence of ‘A Color Map of the Sun’ that he would have to tour with a live band. The full, live band debuted at Red Rocks this past summer and has been receiving incredible reviews all across the country. The band is composed of Adam Deitch on drums, Brian Coogan & Borahm Lee (Break Science) on keys, Scott Flynn (John Brown’s Body) on trombone and Eric Bloom (Lettuce) on trumpet with Derek serving as the grand composer (and bassist). They will be sure to play a heavy amount of the new album while also diving deep into the Pretty Lights catalog. Expect a lot less bangers and a lot more soul, funk grooves. We also can’t forget the mind boggling stage production that Pretty Lights has become known for. The lasers and melted faces will be a plenty. This is something Chicago has been waiting a hot minute for and if you’re a fan of Pretty Lights, the scene, next level production, having a great time, unforgettable moments (I could go on forever…) then you need to be there. You got 3 chances. 3, 2, 1… GO!
