Freaky Deaky is coming back to Chicago this weekend for its’ annual Halloween weekend jam packed with EDM concerts. This year’s lineup features Danny Brown, Kill Paris, Tokimonsta, and Griz. In terms of variety, this lineup beats the past years. While still keeping Freaky Deaky’s roots in EDM , this year they’re briinging Danny Brown to add some hip hop into the mix. Danny Brown recently came out with a new album, titled “Old”. After some Twitter beef with Pretty Lights during their short tour together due to a disagreement with the Pretty Lights fanbase, it’ll be interesting to see how his performance at Freaky Deaky goes this year. The first name scheduled to perform is Kill Paris. Kill Paris brings a variety of EDM subgenres to the table, with so many mellow electronic jams to upbeat electronic bangers. Tokimonsta, sings and live mixes music on stage, similar to Kill Paris, throughout her sets, she brings so many different genres to the table. From hip hop & trap to mixes of more raw, acoustic songs. She definitely makes up for the lack of women in the producing scene, and is a name that’s much deserving of credit within the EDM scene. To close out the night is, Griz. Griz just came out with his new album as well, “Rebel Era”. Rebel Era has been a long anticipated album even though his previous album was released about a year ago. Griz has been playing songs off his new album at summer festivals, amping fans up to finally get their hands on the release of the album. He’s an artist on the rise especially after the start of the “Grizmatik” project with fellow electronic act, Gramatik. They both have developed a loyal fanbase who will definitely be showing their faces to rage at Freaky Deaky this year.
This year’s lineup has definitely stepped up its’ game talentwise with the huge variety of musical acts. So bring your best Halloween costume to the Aragon Ballroom on the 25th and get ready to groove to some fantastic music and open your mind to new names on the lineup.
