The Smart Bar is a small nightclub venue located on the North side across the street from Wrigley Field, and underneath The Metro. The vibe is pretty relaxed Thursdays through Sundays and the crowd is generally chill. Upon entry you will be asked for your ID (this is a 21+ venue) and may or may not experience a very brief pat down from the doorman. The security is laid back unless you break the rules in which case they will kick you out with no hesitation. It is a small place consisting of a downstairs venue with two small rooms, one bar in each; the Smart Bar has a 400-person capacity. The place is so small that it would be foolish to attempt to smoke inside, but there is always re-entry so you can go outside and smoke right on Clark street. The sound is always bumping from the Funktion 1 sound system and the music generally consists of local dj’s/producers with a more underground scene. The place is clean and the bathrooms are usable, they are maintained throughout the night. The drinks are reasonably priced with beers ranging from $4-$6 and mix drinks between $6-$9. The Smart Bar is a great place to come for an after party or a casual night on the town.
